G2A PAY writes a euro every month for inactive accounts

G2A PAY writes a monthly credit of users if they have not logged into their account for 180 days. On Reddit, many users express their dissatisfaction with the measure, which is reported in the conditions of the service.

Users who have not logged in on the website for 180 days will receive an email from G2A PAY, G2A’s own payment service. It states that G2A PAY will withdraw a euro from the balance of the user every month, if he does not log in within three days.

The measure has been around for some time, in October a message about the e-mail in the G2A subreddit already appeared . Since this weekend several users on Reddit express their dissatisfaction with the measure after they have received the same e-mail. Some users claim that the measure is not legal in a number of US states, including California and Minnesota. Whether G2A PAY has actually depreciated money from the wallets is not yet clear

A spokesperson for G2A reports in the subreddit that the measure is required for ‘account maintenance’ and that users have three days before the amount is debited. To prevent this from happening, they must log in. The payment is taken from the user’s G2A wallet, but not from his own account. If there is no credit in the wallet, or if there was no credit, the account will be deactivated. “We never force a user to make a payment or to do something with the credit,” says the spokesman on Reddit.

The Polish website is not entirely without controversy within the gaming community. Every user can offer gamekeys via the marketplace on the platform. G2A does not check where these codes come from and how they were obtained. As a result, providers can trade incorrectly obtained game codes. In addition, the site offers a fraud protection service at an additional cost, which users find difficult to get rid of.

In 2017, Gearbox, known from the Borderlands games, decided against a partnership with G2A . This happened after game critic John Bain, better known as TotalBiscuit, contacted the developer to inform them about the reputation of G2A.
