Burnout-maker Criterion is responsible for battle royale

in Battlefield V
Game studio Criterion is responsible for the Battle Royale section of Battlefield V. It is the first time that the content of a Battlefield game that is not spin-off is in the hands of two studios at the same time.

Criterion Games is just like DICE an EA studio. The English spelling maker is known for the Burnout games, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, Most Wanted and Rivals and Star Wars Battlefront II. The latter also worked together with the Swedish DICE. Previously, other developers have also provided parts, ports and spin-offs of Battlefield here and there, but this is the first time that a studio from outside is working on a mainline Battlefield title.

The Battle Royale mode of Battlefield V is called Firestorm. 64 players in 16 squads compete against each other in the context of the now famous battle royale. Typical Battlefield is that vehicles play a big role. The name Firestorm refers to the firestorm that causes the ever-shrinking game area. EA also says that there are objectives in the levels that players can achieve for better, rarer equipment. There is also level destruction.

Battlefield V will be released on November 20 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows. Currently there is an open beta for all platforms that runs until Tuesday 5 o’clock in the afternoon. Tweakers has also made a preview of the game. However, Firestorm has not yet been able to try out the gaming media.
