Next Windows version will be named Windows 10 October 2018 Update
The new version of Windows 10 will be named October 2018 Update and will be released in that month. That Microsoft has announced at the IFA fair in Berlin. This update is known internally as Redstone 5.

Microsoft announces the designation in a blog post and writes that it wants to release more information in the coming weeks, probably about the changes that the update entails. The naming of the new update is not particularly surprising, because Microsoft had already added the name April 2018 Update on the last day of April.

Windows Central writes on the basis of its own sources that Microsoft wants to distribute the last Redstone 5-build under Insiders on 14 September, after which it must be closed internally on September 25th. The stable update must then be released in the first half of October. Possibly there is a day-one patch .

Until now, several Redstone 5-builds have been reviewed, which offer a view of the functions in the October update. For example improvements in notepad , a dark theme for the explorer, a Your Phone app and support for SwiftKey . The Sets function, to display apps in a window via tabs side-by-side, has removed Microsoft from the Insider builds in June, which may introduce it in a later update.
