Earlier this year, Netflix announced that the fifth season of the series “Orange is the New Black” will be broadcast on June 9, 2017, and did not reveal whether it had decided to make the broadcast date, after the event.

Netflix said in a statement: “We are aware of the situation. What a production company has been dealing with many of the major television studios has been penetrated, and law enforcement authorities have put it in order. ”

It is noteworthy that such thefts is the newest method adopted by cybercriminals in a long series of attacks of ransom and extortion. Security experts are responding at a rapid pace to abuses where criminals threaten to expose or delete privately owned information unless companies pay a ransom.

These threats have increased with the advent of ransom software, and malware that encrypts victims’ data and prevents them from reaching them until a ransom is paid, often amounting to hundreds or thousands of dollars in digital Betcuen. Ransom-grab attacks have increased in the last five years and have risen by 50% in 2016 compared to 2015, according to a report of data breaches published last week by US telecommunications company Frazone.

Thedarkoverlord revealed that he got the first ten episodes of the fifth season of the series “Orange is the New Black”. The penetration occurred before the last three episodes were sent to post-production studios. The pirate posted the first episode on a file sharing site on Friday, then posted the other nine episodes on Saturday.

In a letter posted on Saturday, thedarkoverlord criticized Netflix for not meeting requests for extortion. “It did not have to be that way, Netflix,” he said in the letter. “After the leak you will lose a lot more money than we asked you.”

This is not the first time the name of thedarkoverlord has been mentioned, as it has already appeared in previous attacks, including those involving a charity in January, when the pirate scanned all the organization’s data and then requested $ 50 to form or Equivalent to US $ 43,000, for data recovery, but the association did not respond to his requests.
