My List of Must Have Android Apps

Whether you have received a new Android device or you have had one since they came out there are always a few useful apps that you may not know about.  Below are 7 apps that I use almost daily, hope you find them useful:

First I will start off with my favorite launcher:

Launcher Pro (Free/$3.49)

I have tried out many of the launchers in the android market, but none have been as feature-filled and stable as this one.  You are able to customize:

  • How many homescreens you have (1-7)
  • The transition effects
  • Number of rows and columns
  • And my favorite, number of application docks to have
You are able to
customize a lot more than what I have listed here and if you are interested click the link to download it from the market now.  There is a free and a paid version that unlocks extra widgets you can use.  However you can download another app that contains similar widgets for free!  Look down the list.

Miren Browser (Free)

I actually didn't know about this browser until my friend recently told me about it and I found it to be the best all-around browser I've tried.  Before this I had been using the Dolphin HD Browser and while it gets the job done, it can be slow and take up a lot of my phone's memory.  I personally believe that the Opera Browser is the quickest but it doesn't support flash and some webpages won't load properly with it.  The Miren Browser supports flash and more features then Opera without being slow and clunky feeling like Dolphin HD.  So give it a try and see how it works for you.

QuickPic (Free)

This is just a simple gallery app that I like because it loads my images faster than the built-in 3D Gallery app.  I also like how you are able to hide folders from the gallery, so that you only see the pictures you want to see.  Another good change is that you have access to more settings to change, such as hiding videos.  If this sounds good to you, go ahead and download it.

Go SMS Pro (Free)

With a name that contains "Pro" in it I didn't expect it to be free.  But I am glad that it is because this is one nice SMS/MMS app.  If you like Handcent SMS then you will like Go SMS Pro even better because the developer seems to listen to his/her users and fixes bugs or adds features to satisfy everyone.  With this app you are able to:

  • Enable pop-up notifications
  • Schedule to send SMS texts
  • And customize the looks just to name a few

So give it a try if you want to use this great app.

Widgetsoid 2.x (Free/Donate)

This app allows you to place a widget(s) on your homescreen that will allow you to control different features of your phone.  You can choose the size of the widget as well as how many buttons/settings you want on it.  You can set a button to allow you to adjust the volume for alarm, media, notification, ringer and more.  Other options include:

  • Turn on/off screen rotation
  • Adjust screen brightness
  • Keep screen on while charging and much more

You can download it straight to your phone with the link below.

Android Pro Widgets (Free/$1.99)

This app gives you widgets to display your contacts, calender/agenda, text messages, social media and more.  Try it out for free and if you like it you can buy a license key that unlocks themes and other features.

Financisto (Free/Donate)

Everyone should keep track of their finaces in order to stay inside a budget and prevent overdraft fees.  This little app allows me to input my payments and keep track of my bank account (cash, debit, credit, savings...etc) balances.   I love that I am able to backup/restore my transactions and password protect the application so that only I can look at my balances.  Give it a try if you don't already keep track of your spending.

Hope that you or anyone you know will find those apps useful and if you want to learn about more useful android apps check back later on.
