Akudama Drive Season 2 Release Date

The 2020 Japanese cyberpunk anime television series Akudama Drive, produced by Pierrot and Too Kyo Games, was created by Kazutaka Kodaka.

The anime has to be moved from July 2020 to October 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The series ran from October 8 until December 24, 2020. Outside of Asia, Funimation acquired the rights to the programme and made it accessible for streaming on its website in North America, the British Isles, Mexico, Brazil, and Europe via Wakanim, as well as Australia and New Zealand via AnimeLab.

On December 2, 2020, the show will have an English dub, according to Funimation. When Sony acquired Crunchyroll, the serial was moved over.

Amazing reviews were given to the show. Reviews for the animation were excellent. Otaku USA said in their review that it “is always spectacular and action choreography/camerawork always hyper-kinetic.”

Several Anime News Network writers listed Akudama Drive as one of their favourite series from 2020, and viewers of the same website selected it as the 9th best anime of the year. The latter praised its use of characters and setting to the extent that it was named one of the finest sci-fi anime with Id – Invaded. It was chosen one of the top anime of 2020 by Funimation and UK Anime News.

The first season of Akudama Drive began airing on October 8, 2020, and concluded on December 24, 2020, after 12 episodes. Regarding the future of the series, neither Pierrot nor Ku Kyo Games have released any announcements.

It’s likely that there was only one season given how the anime evolved. If “Akudama Drive” wasn’t renewed, Season 2 would probably debut in 2022 or later.

When numerous Akudamas were recruited to free a thief from jail, the plot of this drama officially began. Swindler had a broken leg towards the end of the first season, as seen by the audience. As she was unable to continue, she requested that Courier take all of the kids to a secure location and give them some cash. While Courier was fleeing, Swindler played the decoy and engaged in combat with the executioners. Swindler, however, perished in the conflict. Sadly, Courier too passed away from his injuries, but by that point, all the kids had found safety.

The second season of Akudam Drive could feature brand-new Akudamas. The story of a brother and sister may still be the main subject of the programme. Additionally, it’s possible that viewers learn more about Kanto’s technological advancements.

Final Remarks

At this point in the article, I’d like to conclude by saying that the Akudama Drive series is very intriguing.

Akudama is the programme for you if you like science fiction, action, and adventure anime series. Furthermore, there hasn’t been any word of a second season of the show, which has only had one thus far.

News and other sources claim that the lack of material and content is the reason why the series’ creators are currently hesitant to create a sequel.

The show’s second season is anticipated to premiere around 2021, but we expect to see it sometime in 2025 or 2026.

Until then, watch the first season of Akudama Drive on Netflix and check back for updates on the anime series.
