It seems every week we hear about a new cyberattack. These malicious events run the gamut, from data breaches to election hacking, making it apparent that every business, Government agency, and system in the world is vulnerable.
That said, there is also a lot is being done to protect our networks—and often. Most recently, we heard about the U.S. Department of Homeland Security conducting research to categorize internet outages and network disruptions. It’s part of their larger mission to protect our nation’s internet infrastructure against disruptive events like natural disasters and cyberattacks, as NextGov describes.
We’ll hear more about this as well as other priorities, trends and innovations from our peers and cyber leaders in government at DC Cybertalks 2018, presented by CyberScoop, a division of FedScoop.
CenturyLink is a DC CyberTalks platinum sponsor and a key partner in DHS’s ongoing efforts, including offering Enhanced Cybersecurity Services as an approved communications service provider. We believe strongly in our duty to help protect our nation’s networks and thwart cyberattacks before they happen. We understand the connected world and can offer our customers the ability to block known threats that are coming in through their network front door as well as leaving through their back door. That’s because CenturyLink responds to and mitigates roughly 120 distributed denial of service attacks per day.
If you’re in the area, you can register for DC CyberTalks here. Government employees can attend for free. Stop by and visit us at our tabletop at the event to learn more about how we are working with federal agencies to help combat the bad guys before they get into the network.
