This year’s conference has been a tremendous one for the CenturyLink team. We started the week announcing the Catalyst Club, have held countless customer and partner meetings, and we’ve had great engagement from VMware professionals at our booth throughout the event.

Highlights from Day 3 include a pair of outstanding sessions from two of our technology leaders.  Steve Nolen from CenturyLink Product Management presented how our CenturyLink Private Cloud architecture, powered by Vmware Cloud Foundation, enables a software-defined and hyper-converged datacenter. Then, our lead IT Solutions architect, Scott Brindamour, delivering a presentation that dove deep into some of the use cases and applications of our private cloud services. I had the opportunity to sit in on both sessions, which were both very well received by attendees. If you look at the presentations and interviews conducted over the past three days, you can see how the CenturyLink story is well aligned with some of the hot topics discussed at the conference, such as hybrid cloud and composite applications being the new normal in IT.

In Steve Nolen’s presentation, he was joined by David Liang from VMware Product Management.  Both Product Managers dove deep into the benefits of hyper-converged infrastructure and how it changes the way datacenters operate at scale. They talked about the components that make up VMware Cloud Foundation, and the common upgrade options available from CenturyLink which make migrating and managing datacenter resources easy and efficient. Steve shared how the VMware Cloud Foundation reference architecture removed numerous vendors and thousands of lines of integration code from the VMware Private Cloud delivery model.

From his experienced perspective, Scott later highlighted the application of this technology in designing best execution venues for enterprise-grade applications. In the Digital Economy, delighting customers means providing frictionless, intuitive experiences that meet them precisely where and when they want products and services. Scott gave numerous, meaningful customer examples of architecture upgrades and business benefits of this agile approach to the data center. Selecting the best execution venue for cloud applications can make all the difference in customer experiences.

Scott discussed the factors to consider when selecting the right cloud environment and the benefits of VMware Cloud Foundation. He also touched on keys to success in the VMware cloud and the pitfalls to avoid when migrating your essential workloads. Many of the use cases that Scott highlighted, such as those form Nissan, Kronos and Chick-fil-a, are currently nominated for Catalyst Club awards!

Once again, VMware has put on an outstanding event. We value our many years of partnership with them and we leave VMworld 2018 energized and inspired to help our joint customers succeed.
