Let’s Talk: Modernizing and Securing the Federal Government

How do you modernize your IT infrastructure? It’s a question asked in many organizations today. The answer is particularly urgent for IT staff in the Federal government since modernization is an explicit mandate both in legislation and executive branch directives.

But, you don’t have to find the answer on your own. I’ll be your master of ceremonies as CenturyLink and Fed Insider host a breakfast session on Tuesday, July 17, at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel’s Crystal Ballroom starting at 8 am. In addition to discussions of the General Services Administration (GSA) Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions (EIS) contracting vehicle, we’ll have two panels: The Future of Government Networks, and Securing the Federal Enterprise.

The two panels will offer ideas and advice for planning and executing a modernization program. We’re also excited to hear from Mary Davie, deputy commissioner of GSA, Federal Acquisition Service. The EIS transition is underway and she will share GSA’s perspectives on priorities and plans.

And hard-working federal IT personnel will not only get the benefit of the discussions and a good breakfast, but receive educational credits too.

CenturyLink brings a long history of major technology transitions to these conversations. Our role is to help you plan, take on the technology burden and empower you to stay focused on your mission. CenturyLink’s David Young, senior vice president of the Strategic Government Group, will share our insights from these transitions as well as the central role the network plays in any modernization effort.

We encourage you to see the shift to EIS as more than just a transition from one contracting vehicle to another. The timing enables federal IT managers to create momentum for modernization, get your people thinking about transformation and gain management buy-in for doing things differently.

Planning becomes incredibly important. You don’t need to replace everything. What must you change? What can you change? How will you manage the combination of legacy and modernized systems? Most importantly, how will you secure it? These are important questions as you chart your course.

The good news is there are answers to these questions, even if they are slightly different for different agencies. Come to the Crystal Ballroom on July 17 and we’ll explore your options. Register now.
