6-Step Printable Scarecrow Paper Craft for Kids

Scare off the crows! A Scarecrow is a permanent figure in farms. Otherwise known as a hay-man, it serves as a decoy to ward off birds from the crops. Made from hay and shaped in human form, it is usually dressed in old tattered clothes, and strategically positioned in farms. While it effectively scares the birds away, this is not the case with people. A lot purposely go to farms to check the different scarecrow creations and pinpoint the best one – kids included.

But you don’t have to go out of your way to visit a farm to see a scarecrow. You can make one with your kids in the comforts of your home. If you want to create an authentic scarecrow, you can start by gathering the materials. However, if you want to create a simple one just to keep your kids’ interests and show their creativity, then you can make this easy Scarecrow Paper craft.

Materials:

Colored Construction Papers
Scarecrow Face pattern printed on white paper
Scarecrow Hat pattern printed on orange paper
Scissors
Permanent marker
Glue

Tip: If you do not have construction papers available, you can print the patterns on white paper and let your kids color or paint it. Or if using a colored printer and you are confident that the laser printer toner cartridge levels are sufficient to print colored templates, then make the necessary adjustments and print.

Paper Scarecrow Craft for Kids in 6 Steps

Step 1
Cut the Scarecrow Face template.

Step 2
Cut the Scarecrow Hat template.

Step 3
Get one construction paper (yellow). Cut 6 equally-sized papers.

Step 4
Assemble the Paper Scarecrow and fix with glue. Set aside to dry.

Step 5
Cut asymmetrical paper shapes on different colors of construction paper.
Then, add the shapes on to the Scarecrow Hat.

Step 6
Draw a pair of eyes, nose, and mouth.

What you can do with the Paper Scarecrow Craft?

  • You can stick it on cardboard and hang it on walls.
  • You can attach a string at the upper back side of the paper craft and hang.
  • You can use it as notebook cover design.
