Velcom launches 3G in Belarus

Velcom a subsidiary of Telkom Austria announced the commercial launch of 3G HSPA+ in Minsk and Gomel.

They achieved this feat is less than 3 months after it granted the license [end of 2009].

Various plans are available on the 3G platform geared around data usage volumes.

Velcom the first GSM operator in Belarus holds the number number 2 position in the Belarus Mobile market with a 42% market share.

It offers it mobile services under;

  • Postpaid – Velcom
  • Prepaid – Privet.

The largest mobile operator in Belarus is MTS co-owned by Russia’s  No.1 mobile network operator Mobile TeleSystems [MTS].
