I have been mulling over the worldwide embrace of Facebook and all it offers [It is almost fanatic].

Facebook has over 500 million users - more than three times the population of Nigeria and 13.5% of the total worldwide population.


History of FACEBOOK


1. Idea conceived and launched  in the dorm room of Zuckerberg in Harvard, October 2003 - Birth name "Facemash". Within This was banned and squashed by the Harvard authorities.
4 hours the site had 450 visitors and 22,00 photo-views.

2. He later created The Facebook in February 2004

3. Usage was initially restricted to Harvard Students

4. Coverage spread to Stanford, Columbia, Yale

5. Spread to All Ivy leagues and Boston areas schools

6. Then usage was allowed across all universities in the US and Canada

7. The Facebook became and incorporated company in 2004

8. Became Facebook.com in 2005 - The Generic verb Facebooking was coined.

9. Launched high school version in 2005

10. Next a little bit of the adult corporate world was allowed to use FB; Employees of Apple and Microsoft.

11. Finally in Sept 2006 FB was opened to every one worldwide over the age of 13 and with a valid email ID

12. In 2008 Facebook played politics and had a remarkable effect on the youth population in America

13. In 2009 Facebook lite launched for users with slower internet connections was cut short in April 2010


14. Today; FB has over 500 Million users across the globe, the "HUGEST" social medium in history. Though with some specific restrictions in some countries like; Syria, China,Vietnam and Iran
