Egypt, Finland to sign ICT agreement | BiztechAfrica Business, Telecom, Technology & IT News Africa



Egypt and Finland will sign a far-reaching Cooperation protocol on ICT next month.
Egypt’s Communications and Information Technology Minister, Mohamed Salem, who is currently on a visit to Helsinki, said the two sides agreed to form a committee at Ministerial level to lay down a plan for cooperation on several projects.
Salem met with Finnish Minister of Economic Affairs Jyri Hakamies and the Finnish Minister of Housing and Communications, Krista Kiuru, to discuss practical frameworks to support mutual and commercial relations, and opening new prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the field of ICT.

The Egyptian delegation comprises a commercial mission, representing private sector companies, in cooperation with the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA).

Dr. Salem highlighte Egypt’s ICT progress, noting among other things that the number of mobile users in Egypt has mounted to 92 million subscribers, while the number of internet users has reached 30 millions.
