Gem Security, A Cloud Threat Detection Service, Raised A $23M Series A

GGV Capital hosted a $23 million Series A round of funding for Gem Security, an Israeli cloud security vendor. This included typical investment groups like IBM Ventures and Silicon Valley CISO Investments (SVCI). If you include their seed funding of $11 million, this brings the total to $34 million.

The startup is a Cloud Detection and Response (CDR) service that works on Amazon AWS, Azure, Google Cloud and Kubernetes. The majority of large organization now use such cloud platforms, making them high-priority targets for hackers looking embed sopisticated malware.

Oren Yunger, Managing Partner at GGV Capital, had this to say:

“With the shift to the cloud, the security operations model needs to evolve. Security teams don’t reliably know when they are being attacked, let alone why or how those attacks are occurring. Gem has built a unique platform that allows CISOs and their teams to prepare, detect, respond, and remediate cloud security attacks – with context and fast.”

Following the trend of most security vendors, Gem Security is ramping up the use of AI to help companies and government organizations detect intrusion attempts in their network infrastructure.
