Flapmax, a pioneer in artificial intelligence solutions, is pleased to announce the commencement of the Women in AI (WAI) Generative AI Fellowship program under its Fai Institute initiative.

This program is designed to empower women in the realm of artificial intelligence (AI) and foster innovation in AI research and development, particularly targeting underserved communities in emerging markets such as Africa.

Prospective candidates with a keen interest in generative AI are cordially invited to submit their applications by April 8, 2024, for consideration to join the program’s 3rd cohort commencing in May 2024.

“At FAI Institute, our core mission revolves around propelling human potential through state-of-the-art research, educational endeavors, and training schemes tailored for the future workforce,” articulated Dr. Dave Ojika, the esteemed founder of FAI Institute.

We acknowledge the tremendous capacity of women in propelling innovation and advancement in the AI domain. Through dedicated endeavors aimed at facilitating access to top-notch training, mentorship, and avenues for growth, we are steadfast in our commitment to empowering women to excel in AI careers and make substantial contributions to the industry.

Since its inception, the WAI initiative by FAI Institute has extended training opportunities to over 800 women hailing from more than 24 nations.

With the generous support of Intel and Microsoft, in conjunction with Wentors, a global community dedicated to fostering the development of women in technology, the WAI initiative is broadening horizons for underrepresented communities, especially women, through experiential learning and practical projects in real-world scenarios.

In observance of International Women’s Day, graduates of the WAI program shared their insights and experiences in a poignant documentary film titled “Breaking Barriers: Women Shaping the Future of AI,” released earlier this week.

“The Women in AI training program by FAI Institute stands as a commendable initiative that has afforded women the platform to flourish in the realms of artificial intelligence and data,” remarked Dorathy Simeon, the esteemed Senior Programs Coordinator at Wentors.

“In a world increasingly cognizant of the potentials that AI offers, initiatives of this nature assume paramount significance.”

The upcoming WAI program for the year 2024, set to launch in May, encompasses a 4-week virtual course featuring hands-on labs that impart industry-relevant tools for practical AI solutions.

Participants will engage in the analysis of vast datasets and leverage machine learning libraries to craft AI models for business applications. Following the course, participants will be engaged in 8-week AI practicum projects under the mentorship of industry experts.

Peer groups and weekly meetings will offer guidance, while participants will have the opportunity to network with tech professionals to enhance their portfolios and showcase their accomplishments.

FAI Institute remains steadfast in its pursuit of conducting cutting-edge research of university caliber with tangible impacts on industry. The initiative is forging partnerships aimed at catalyzing technological advancements in underrepresented communities.

FAI Institute hosts the FAI Summit, fostering a community dedicated to responsible AI research, emerging technologies, and sustainability, while creating avenues for collaboration with researchers, governmental bodies, entrepreneurs, and leading corporations.

Through collaborations with these partners, FAI Institute is facilitating the connection of the next wave of innovators with sustainable technology objectives and equipping them with avant-garde career skills through programs like WAI.

The WAI 2024 program is giving precedence to applicants with a keen interest in generative AI. Prospective applicants may be university/college students or working professionals possessing foundational knowledge in data science or computer programming, and must be available for the entire program duration from May to August 2024.

Successful applicants will be shortlisted for participation in a feature film production that will harness AI and creative technology in the filmmaking process. Further details regarding this opportunity will be disclosed in due course.

FAI Institute by Flapmax is a research and development endeavor dedicated to advancing the domain of artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies through pioneering research, educational initiatives, collaborations, and explorations.

With a steadfast commitment to fostering equity and fairness in AI, the initiative serves as a dynamic platform for researchers and industry professionals to engage in innovative AI research.
