However, it is important to note that applicants are still required to download, sign, and submit the forms to the Helb offices.

To initiate the HELB Loan application process, there are several essential documents that applicants must possess. These include:

  1. National ID card: A valid national identification card is required for identity verification purposes.
  2. Bank Account: It is highly recommended to have an account with Equity Bank, as this facilitates a seamless loan disbursement process.
  3. KRA PIN: Applicants can generate a Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) PIN by visiting any cyber cafe or following the prescribed procedure outlined on the KRA website. This PIN is necessary for tax-related matters.
  4. Parents’ Details: A photocopy of the applicant’s parents’ identification cards is required for verification purposes.
  5. Email Address: A valid email address is essential for receiving important communication from HELB regarding the loan application.
  6. Guarantors’ Details: Applicants must provide the details of three employed individuals who will act as their guarantors. Copies of their identification cards should also be submitted.

The step-by-step procedure for first-time HELB loan applicants is as follows:

  1. Visit the HELB student portal website.
  2. Click on the “Create Account” tab to create your HELB account.
  3. Log into your account and click on the “First Time Undergraduate Loan Application” link.
  4. Accurately fill out the form, ensuring that no steps are skipped. The form requires personal details, educational information, university details, parents’ information, family expenses, guarantors’ details, and bank account information. It is crucial to have all these details readily available.
  5. After completing the form, navigate to the homepage to confirm the accuracy of your entries.
  6. Once you have verified the correctness of your form, return to the homepage and click on the “Print Form” icon to generate a printable version of your HELB form.
  7. Before submission, ensure that all the necessary sections of the form that require signatures have been duly signed.
