Little Nightmares 3 Developer Reveals Online-Only Co-op Details

Little Nightmares 3 will introduce a co-op mode, which was the most requested feature by fans. The game will only feature online co-op, as the developers want players to be anchored in the atmosphere of the game.

The new instalment in the series is being developed by Supermassive Games, the team behind Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology. The game centres on two new characters, Low and Alone, but will include references to the horrors of the previous games.

Bandai Namco Europe producer Coralie Feniello and Supermassive Games director Wayne Garland explained that co-op mode will add a layer to the game that is unlike the others.

The shared odyssey through Little Nightmares 3‘s Necropolis is designed to enhance the player’s experience. However, the developers also want players to experience the game as they want, so they kept the single-player mode. If players do not play online co-op, they can play with AI.

The team has decided to stick to online co-op only for Little Nightmares 3 to ensure that players are anchored in the atmosphere of the game.

The developers considered couch co-op, but they decided to stick to online co-op only because they wanted to elicit immersion through Little Nightmares.
