Typically, the user-experience of installation differs between browsers and doesn’t offer much information by default.For example, this is what the Installation Dialog of X looks like in Chrome on desktop:This experience is not familiar to users and can therefore confuse them and get them to cancel the dialog.Since Chrome for Android 94 and Chrome for desktop 108, web apps can offer their users a richer install UI that’s closer to installing native apps with some simple additions to manifest.json. A description of the PWA can be added and 8 screenshots in total for mobile and desktop.This will turn the installation dialog on mobile into something like this:And on desktop it will look like this:The description is taken from the “description” field in manifest.json.
