Do you dream of using your Fortnite prowess to win an Olympic medal? That dream can now become a reality. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has officially included Fortnite in the lineup for the Olympic Esports Finals.

The competition will feature twelve players from the Fortnite Champion Series competing in a sharpshooting contest on a custom Fortnite Creative Island.

Although there won't be any battle royale or building elements involved, this event will provide an opportunity to witness some of the world's most skilled virtual sport shooters in action, backed by the International Shooting Sport Federation.

At the same time, the IOC has commenced the sale of tickets for the Olympic Esports Week, which focuses on the 2023 competition series' first in-person finals.

If you're able to travel to Singapore from June 22nd to June 25th, you can buy a ticket for 10 SGD (about $7.50) for one day or 20 SGD ($15) for the three days of competition beginning on June 23rd.

The Fortnite sport shooting competitions are set to occur on June 24th. You can catch the events live-streaming through Olympics.com and the Olympics' social media platforms.

The Olympic Esports Series features nine games that correspond to real-world sports overseen by international federations. Among the titles are Just Dance, Gran Turismo racing, Zwift cycling, and even web chess.

This series is a continuation of the Olympic Virtual Series from 2021, which featured five digital sports. The IOC views this as part of a larger initiative to promote esports and engage with the gaming community.

The inclusion of a Fortnite island aligns with the IOC's esports objectives, which aim to feature “peaceful competition” that has a physical counterpart.

While this doesn't mean that we will be seeing a digital Olympics featuring popular games like Counter-Strike 2 or League of Legends, Fortnite is undeniably one of the most widely played games in the Esports Series.

This move could potentially attract viewers who might not typically tune into traditional esports tournaments.
