ISRO Plans to Launch Satellite for Climate Observation and Study of X-ray Sources

India’s space organization, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), is not only focused on the upcoming Chandrayaan-3 Moon landing but also on another important Mission related to the study of the Sun. ISRO is planning to launch a satellite to observe the climate and the Indo-US synthetic aperture radar. Additionally, the country’s first-ever polarimetric mission to study bright astronomical X-ray sources is also in line for launch.

ISRO Chairman, S Somnath, has informed that preparations are underway for the launch of the climate observation satellite INSAT-3DS. Prior to this Sun mission, ISRO will launch a test mission called Gaganyan to gather full details of the ejection system. The successful propulsion system test of Gaganyaan was conducted earlier this month at ISRO’s Propulsion Complex in Tamil Nadu. The Gaganyaan mission aims to send three crew members to an orbit of 400 km for three days before safely returning them to Earth.

ISRO’s focus is currently on the Gaganyan project, ensuring its preparedness and success. The mission has been meticulously designed to yield successful results in its first attempt. In the meantime, India’s Chandrayaan-3 mission, launched on July 14 from Sriharikota, holds the nation’s hope. If successful, it will make India the fourth country to land a spacecraft on the Moon. Previous attempts, such as Chandrayaan-2, unfortunately faced failure due to the crash of the Vikram Lander.

Overall, ISRO is taking a slow and steady approach, focusing on one mission at a time, with the goal of achieving significant milestones in space exploration and research.
