One of the trademarks of Bethesda games is their rich backstory, and Starfield is no exception. The game is set in a future where humanity has successfully colonized space and has been living among the stars for nearly 280 years.

By 2050, humans have already reached Mars in the game’s universe, and less than 50 years later, they have established settlements in the Settled Systems, with the United Colonies being the dominant power. The United Colonies value discipline and lawfulness, while the Freestar Collective, a group of independent systems, embraces freedom.

Tensions between the United Colonies and the Freestar Collective escalate in 2307 when the Freestar begins farming on the planet Vesta, which the United Colonies claim violates the Treaty of Narion. This sparks the Colony War, a four-year conflict that ends with Freestar crippling the United Colonies fleet using guerrilla tactics.

Amidst the conflicts, the organization known as Constellation is formed. It was founded in 2275 by Sebastian Banks and serves as a group of explorers. Numerous members join over the years, and in 2328, Constellation purchases a space station and equips it with a deep space scanner, setting the stage for the events of Starfield.

With a rich backstory spanning centuries, Starfield promises to deliver an immersive and expansive space adventure like no other. Fans can expect a compelling narrative and a world filled with exploration and discovery when the game finally launches.
