Lamborghini Unveils Concept for First Electric Car

Lamborghini has revealed a concept for its first-ever all-electric vehicle, called the Lanzador. The jacked-up sports car concept features a two-door, four-seat design and was unveiled at Monterey Car Week. It showcases the direction the Italian brand intends to go as it transitions to battery power. The Lanzador is described as a “high ground-clearance GT with 2+2 seats” and combines the high-performance elements of Lamborghini’s Revuelto hybrid supercar and the versatility of the popular Urus SUV. The concept is expected to closely resemble the production version that will be available in showrooms in the near future.

The design of the Lanzador started out as a supercar but was modified to create a “true pilot’s driving position” reminiscent of the off-road Huracán Sterrato. The concept includes design influences from other Lamborghini models, such as the slim headlights and hexagonal-shaped brake lights of the Countach LPI 800-4. While the Lanzador is lower than the Urus, it is not expected to directly replace the SUV, as a hybrid version of the Urus is anticipated to be released soon.

The Lanzador boasts over one megawatt of power, which is equivalent to 1,341 horsepower, nearly three times that of a Tesla Model 3 Performance. It utilizes a pair of electric motors, one on each axle, for all-wheel drive and is equipped with active e-torque vectoring and rear-wheel steering for enhanced agility. The electric vehicle will feature a high-performance battery for long-range capabilities; however, specific details on the battery size and performance figures have not been disclosed by Lamborghini at this time.

The car will offer advanced driving dynamics control through the Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata (LDVI) system, ensuring a unique driving experience for customers. Additionally, the Lanzador will feature more active aerodynamics than Lamborghini’s current high-performance supercars, as active aero is important for electric vehicles to extend driving range between charges.
