Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III: What to Expect from the Upcoming Game

Activision has revealed new details about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Iii, the latest installment in the franchise. Fans of the Zombies mode will be thrilled to know that they can expect the biggest map in the mode’s history, with the ability to team up with other squads to fight off massive hordes of zombies.

While Sledgehammer Games is leading the development of Modern Warfare III, other Activision studios are also contributing. Treyarch, known for their work on Call of Duty, has handled this year’s Zombies mode, which features a Dark Aether story, secrets to uncover, various missions, and an open-world PvE extraction survival experience.

In addition to the Zombies mode, the game will include the original 16 multiplayer maps from the 2009 version of Modern Warfare 2. These classic maps have been modernized and updated with new modes and gameplay features. Furthermore, the game will introduce new Battle Maps for Ground War and Invasion modes, as well as a War map.

Players can expect fresh movement mechanics, including a Tac-Stance for close-quarters combat. Activision has refined reload cancel and slide cancel mechanics, making it faster to aim down sights after a slide. All perks will be available at the beginning of multiplayer matches, including a new silent movement perk called Covert Sneakers.

The classic red-dot minimap, which was omitted from last year’s Modern Warfare II, will be making a comeback. There will also be a map voting system and players will have a health boost, resulting in a slightly longer time-to-kill.

For the first time, players will be able to carry forward nearly all of their unlocked items, including weapons and operators, from Modern Warfare II to Modern Warfare III.

In terms of the campaign, Modern Warfare III is a direct sequel to last year’s game and follows the story of Task Force 141 as they attempt to take down villain Vladmir Makarov. The game introduces a new type of mission called Open Combat, which allows players to choose their own path and complete objectives in multiple ways.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is set to release on November 10th for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. There will be a free open beta prior to the release, with pre-order players getting early access and the ability to play the campaign a week before the official release date.
