The Au Gres-Sims Wolverines Look to Build on Strong 2022 Season

The Au Gres-Sims Wolverines had a successful 2022 season, finishing with an 8-2 record. However, their postseason run ended in a heartbreaking loss to Morrice. The team has kept a photo of Morrice hoisting the trophy in their locker room as a reminder.

Head Coach Brian Sanchez praised his team’s dedication, with most of the players hitting the weight room immediately after their loss. The Wolverines are determined and focused for the upcoming season.

One of their top rushers, Keegan Bender, has left the team, prompting a shift in offensive strategy. The Wolverines plan to adopt a more balanced approach, moving away from a ground and pound attack.

Junior quarterback Carter Zeien is optimistic about the team’s new game plan and believes they have the right players in the right positions to succeed.

The Wolverines have a mix of experienced upperclassmen leaders and talented underclassmen, setting them up for another strong season in 2023. Senior lineman Andrew Sabin emphasizes the importance of team bonding and setting the tone for success.

To prepare for the regular season, the Wolverines will hold a scrimmage to fine-tune their gameplay and evaluate their roster. Coach Sanchez sees this as an opportunity to test their offense, defensive changes, and overall team dynamics.

The Au Gres-Sims Wolverines will kick off their season with a home game against the Atlanta Huskies next Thursday. They aim to build on their previous year’s success and continue their journey towards victory.
