President Biden Tours Clean Energy Company Impacted by Inflation Reduction Act

One day before the one-year anniversary of the signing of the Inflation Reduction Act, President Joe Biden traveled to Milwaukee to tour a company directly impacted by the sweeping measure. The company in question is Ingeteam Inc., a clean energy manufacturing company that produces wind turbine generators.

During his visit, President Biden spoke at length about the act, which aims to help industry leaders and consumers transition away from fossil fuels to cleaner energy sources. A recent analysis of the law suggests that it could bring 24,000 clean energy jobs to Wisconsin over the next decade. Biden emphasized that the act is creating American jobs and products, which are being built within the United States.

As a result of the act, Ingeteam expects orders of wind turbine generators to double next year. In addition, the company announced plans to start manufacturing electric vehicle charging stations in Milwaukee, which could create 100 new jobs. Jesus Rodriguez, executive vice president of Ingeteam EC Chargers USA, stated that the company now plans to produce up to 13,000 electric vehicle chargers per year.

In conjunction with President Biden’s visit, Siemens, an industrial manufacturer, also announced plans to start manufacturing solar energy equipment at its Kenosha County factory. Specifically, Siemens plans to produce solar string inverters, which convert solar energy into electricity. This development aligns with the Clean Economy Coalition of Wisconsin’s statement, which highlighted that the act has already spurred $445 million in investments for Wisconsin’s businesses, workers, and residents.

President Biden’s visit to Ingeteam and Siemens is part of his effort to promote his economic accomplishments, often referred to as “Bidenomics.” This comes as Wisconsin becomes a focal point for the upcoming 2024 presidential race between Biden and former President Donald Trump. The president hopes to highlight his economic achievements, given that his approval ratings in Wisconsin currently stand at 42 percent.

The president’s visit is also significant because Wisconsin is a crucial swing state. In the 2020 presidential election, Biden narrowly defeated Trump, flipping Wisconsin blue. However, Republicans have been dominant in smaller and rural communities across the state. Thus, President Biden’s visit and focus on economic growth and job creation aim to secure support in this key battleground state.
