Reports suggest that Nvidia’s upcoming RTX 50-Series Gpu Lineup will adopt a “GB20x” naming structure. The lineup is expected to consist of five GPUs, ranging from GB202 to GB207, with GB204 being skipped.

This information surfaced when a user named “panzerlied” mentioned on Chiphell that Nvidia did not have plans to develop a successor to its AD104 GPU. Instead, Nvidia will introduce an X05 GPU to bridge the gap. However, further details regarding the implications of this name change for customers were not provided.
VideoCardz reached out to a reliable Nvidia leaker, kopite7kimi, for confirmation. In response, kopite7kimi shared a list of GPUs, codenamed Blackwell, that Nvidia intends to use for the RTX 50-series. This list did not include any X04 GPUs but only included GB202, GB203, GB205, GB206, and GB207.
It is worth noting that the first Nvidia x03 GPU was introduced with the RTX 30-series in early 2022, almost 1.5 years after the debut of Ampere. This GPU was positioned between the enthusiast-level GA102 and high-mid-range GA104 and was utilized in models such as the RTX 3080 Ti mobile, RTX 3060 Ti, and RTX A5500 (Mobile and Max-Q). In the ADA GPU series, Nvidia released the AD103 and AD104 GPUs as part of the primary lineup. The latest information indicates that the X03 GPU will entirely replace the X04 SKU in the Blackwell GPU lineup.
Nvidia’s next-generation consumer architecture is expected to be available in 2025.
Without a GB204 GPU, it remains uncertain which GPU the “RTX 5070” series cards will utilize. Nvidia could consider using GB205 if it meets the requirements or potentially opt for GB203, which might involve a reduction in the number of active CUDA cores. Another possibility is that Nvidia may release an RTX 5070 Ti and an RTX 5070, using GB203 for the former and GB205 for the latter.
