Apple Working on New Smartwatch to Commemorate 10 Years of Apple Watch

Apple is developing a new smartwatch, the Watch X, in honor of the ten-year anniversary of its first Apple Watch. The smartwatch, expected to be released in either 2024 or 2025, may feature a redesigned body to accommodate a larger battery. There are also rumors that Apple will incorporate a microLED display for improved visual quality. Additionally, the Watch X is said to include blood pressure monitoring.

According to Apple analyst Mark Gurman, the new smartwatch may introduce a revamped strap design. The straps are rumored to magnetically attach to the chassis, allowing for more internal space. This new strap design might be unveiled with the Watch X or the upcoming Apple Watch 9.

Speaking of the Apple Watch 9, Gurman suggests that it won’t see significant changes. The watch will likely maintain the current sizes of 41 and 45 millimeters, with an Ultra variant at 49 millimeters. Customers will have the choice between LTE or Wi-Fi versions, as well as faster processors and fresh color options. However, Gurman predicts that these upgrades may be seen as minor compared to previous iterations.

The anticipated release date for the Watch Series 9 is September 12, alongside the launch of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro.

In addition to smartwatches, Gurman’s newsletter provides insights into the upcoming Mac lineup. The new generation of Macs is expected to feature the M3 series SoC. Apple is planning to release new tablets and laptops towards the end of the year, equipped with the M3 SoC.

The base M3 SoC with eight CPU and ten Gpu Cores is likely to power the base models of the MacBook Pro, MacBook Air (13-inch and 15-inch), Mac mini, and iMac. It is also expected to be used in the next generation of the iPad Pro.

The M3 Pro silicone chip, with up to 14 CPU and 20 GPU cores, is speculated to be used in the 14-inch and 16-Inch Macbook Pro models, as well as the Mac mini. A more powerful version, the M3 Max, with up to 16 CPU and 40 GPU cores, may be utilized in the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, as well as the Mac Studio. Apple is also reportedly working on an M3 Ultra SoC with up to 32 CPU and 80 GPU cores for the Mac Studio and Mac Pro.
