Xiaomi is set to launch the Pad 6 Max on August 14, joining the Mix Fold 3 and Redmi K60 Ultra in Xiaomi’s tablet lineup. The Pad 6 Max will be the third tablet in the Pad 6 series, following the vanilla Pad 6 and Pad 6 Pro. While details about the new tablets have been circulating online, Xiaomi has been teasing the Pad 6 Max’s front camera features in recent promotional materials.

One of the key features of the Pad 6 Max is its “smart privacy protection” on the front camera. It incorporates two new hardware features to enhance privacy: a front Time of Flight (ToF) sensor and a permission indicator light. The ToF sensor enables presence monitoring, which means the screen will automatically turn on when you approach it and turn off when you move away. This helps prevent unauthorized access to the tablet.

Additionally, the permission indicator light will flash red when an app attempts to access sensitive permissions, such as the camera. This allows users to be alerted when an app is attempting to access private data, giving them the option to grant or deny permission.

In terms of specifications, the Pad 6 Max is a powerful tablet featuring a large 14-inch display. It is equipped with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor and houses a 10,000mAh battery that supports 67W fast charging and 33W reverse charging. The device boasts an eight-speaker system and incorporates Xiaomi’s Surge G1 battery management chip.

Xiaomi has designed the Pad 6 Max with content consumption and productivity in mind. With features like WPS Office PC for Pad and a native four-window split-screen feature, Xiaomi claims that the tablet will provide a PC-level experience. The pricing and availability of the Pad 6 Max will be revealed during the launch event.
