Airstream has expanded its Basecamp lineup by introducing a 20-Foot version of its REI Co-op Special Edition Basecamp travel trailer. Last year, Airstream collaborated with REI to create an environmentally friendly camper trailer, but initially only offered it as a 16-foot model. The new 20-foot model, called the REI Co-op Special Edition Basecamp 20X, is designed to accommodate larger families and groups. It can sleep four people and features a front dinette set that converts into a bed. The bigger trailer also includes larger holding tanks.

The REI Basecamp trailers are constructed using sustainable materials, such as post-consumer recycled materials and sustainably grown wood for the components. They also offer off-grid capabilities, with features like a UV-LED and pre-filter water purification system for potable water, and an optional composting toilet.

Airstream and REI gathered feedback from potential customers before introducing the 16-foot trailer last year. The trailers were designed to meet the demand for a camper that could fit larger families and accommodate outdoor equipment like kayaks, bikes, and fishing gear. The success of the first REI Airstream model prompted the introduction of the larger 20-foot model. The REI Co-op Special Edition Basecamp 20X is priced at $62,400, which is $9,500 more than the 16-foot model. The non-REI Basecamp 20 starts at $54,400.
