US Electric Car-Conversion Start-Up Unveils Tesla-Powered Classic Porsche 911

US electric car-conversion start-up, Sacrilege Motors, has revealed the “Blackbird” – a classic Porsche 911 that has been transformed into an electric vehicle using Tesla power. The car will make its public debut at the upcoming Monterey Car Week in California. Named after the Lockheed SR-71 supersonic aircraft, the Blackbird is built by Sacrilege Motors in Connecticut.

The Blackbird is based on a 1992 Porsche 911 from the 964 generation. While it retains the aesthetics of the original petrol-powered sports car, it now features a Tesla Model S electric motor, producing approximately 373kW (500 horsepower) and 500Nm of torque. The motor is powered by a 62kWh battery pack, providing a claimed driving range of about 320km. Despite the addition of the electric motor and battery pack, the Blackbird remains relatively lightweight, weighing only 1450kg, allowing it to accelerate from 0-100km/h in under four seconds.

In terms of performance enhancements, the Blackbird is equipped with custom Penske adjustable shock absorbers, Brembo brakes, and Fiske three-piece forged wheels with Michelin tires. The car maintains the wide “Turbo body” look of the special edition 911 America Roadster, but is distinguished by its blacked-out paintwork and lowered ride height.

Sacrilege Motors will fully unveil the Blackbird on August 20 at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, as part of the Monterey Car Week. Another electric Porsche 911, converted by UK-based firm Everrati, will also be showcased at the event. Everrati has converted various vehicles, including Porsche 911s, Land Rovers, Range Rovers, classic Mercedes-Benz coupes, and even a Ford GT40.
