Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) has been revolutionizing PC gaming for years, and now Dlss 3 takes it to a whole new level. This advanced technology utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to generate frames on its own, providing incredibly high frame rates in demanding games like Portal RTX.

DLSS 3 consists of three key features: DLSS Super Resolution, DLSS Frame Generation, and Nvidia Reflex. DLSS Super Resolution upscales game resolution to improve performance, while Reflex reduces latency. The new addition is Frame Generation, which uses AI to generate alternate frames in games. You can combine this with Super Resolution for even better performance.
It’s important to note that Frame Generation and Super Resolution can be individually enabled or disabled in DLSS 3 games. If you have a high-end RTX 40-series GPU, you can also combine Frame Generation with Nvidia’s Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing (DLAA) in compatible titles.
However, using Frame Generation requires using Reflex as well. Reflex reduces latency and enhances responsiveness, ensuring that game controls are more immediate and actions happen nearly instantaneously.
DLSS 3 dramatically improves frame rates and quality. In testing, using an RTX 4090 graphics card with DLSS 3 enabled, Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K with ray tracing reached nearly 50% more frames compared to DLSS 2. Overall, DLSS 3 provided over three times the frame rate compared to not using DLSS at all.
DLSS 3 is currently exclusive to Nvidia’s latest GeForce RTX 40-series graphics cards. However, DLSS Super Resolution still works on all RTX GPUs. The tech is not compatible with AMD or Intel GPUs.
There are currently close to 50 games that support DLSS 3, with new titles being added regularly. Some notable games include Cyberpunk 2077, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Hitman 3, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
