Ferrari Possibly Taking Inspiration from Porsche 911 GT3 RS and McLaren Artura for Upcoming Supercar

Italian car manufacturer Ferrari may be using the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and Mclaren Artura as benchmarks for their next high-power supercar. Spy footage captured a new Porsche 911 GT3 RS leaving Ferrari’s headquarters in Maranello, Italy. In the same video, a McLaren Artura, a direct competitor to the Ferrari 296 supercar, was also seen departing the facility.

The Ferrari 296, unveiled in 2021 as Ferrari’s first model with a V6 engine since the Dino-branded sports cars of the late 1950s to early 1970s, is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine and electric motors. While it is common for car manufacturers to purchase and test-drive new models from their competitors, the presence of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS suggests Ferrari’s plans for a more hardcore version of the 296.

Ferrari’s testing and benchmarking of the 911 GT3 RS indicates that they may be planning to produce a hotter version of the 296 to compete with the German supercar. However, this version is likely at least two years away, following Ferrari’s usual model cycle.

It is also interesting that Ferrari is testing the McLaren Artura, considering both cars are powered by 120-degree twin-turbo V6 engines with hybrid assistance. However, it could simply be a case of Ferrari wanting to keep an eye on its competitors and learn from them to improve its own cars.

Ferrari may also draw inspiration from its 296 GT3 racer to enhance the performance of the road car’s higher-performance version. Overall, these sightings outside Ferrari’s factory suggest exciting developments for the future of the brand’s supercars.
