This struggle for independence mirrors the historic War of Independence fought between America and Britain.
However, the expedition across the solar system poses unique challenges. The power of spacecraft equipment far exceeds the human body’s capability to withstand it. Even at sub-light speeds, the human body is remarkably fragile. The Epstein drive, which can accelerate and decelerate spacecraft, subjects travelers to extreme g-forces. The arrival time at a destination depends on how many g-forces an individual can endure comfortably.
Moreover, those born off-Earth face the harsh reality that they can never return to Earth due to the crushing effects of its gravity on their bodies. The weaponry used in space battles is different from what science fiction often portrays. Simple Gatling gun rounds that puncture a spacecraft can be just as deadly as proton torpedoes or phaser beams. Even a small rock, propelled at the correct trajectory and speed, can cause significant damage comparable to a nuclear bomb.
The ill-fated Titan submersible incident reminded us that dangers exist not only in outer space but also on our own planet. However, it highlights the grave consequences of exploring treacherous environments and serves as a reminder of the risks inherent in space exploration.
