Music streaming platform Spotify is expanding its personalized music feature called “DJ” to more countries worldwide. Premium Spotify users in selected regions across Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand will now have access to the English version of the DJ feature.

To use this tool, users simply need to launch the Spotify mobile app on their iOS or Android devices and navigate to the Music feed on the Home tab. From there, they can tap the DJ feature or find it in the Made for You hub under the Search section.

The DJ feature acts as a personalized AI guide that curates a tailored selection of songs based on users’ music preferences. By analyzing their musical history, including long-forgotten favorites, the DJ feature generates an ongoing playlist of tracks suited to individual tastes.

Spotify plans to continually refine and enhance the user experience of the DJ feature as it is currently in its beta phase. This includes learning from user interaction to improve accuracy and recommendations. Spotify uses advanced personalization technology to offer an array of music suggestions based on users’ preferences.

By leveraging “Generative AI” technology powered by OpenAI and an innovative “dynamic AI voice” system developed through the acquisition of Sonantic, Spotify aims to create a seamless and lifelike user experience. This integration allows the platform to deliver realistic voices derived from text.

Spotify initially introduced the DJ feature in February in the United States and Canada, expanding to the UK and Ireland in May. The feature has received positive feedback from music enthusiasts, prompting its expansion to more countries.
