Locus Robotics, a leading autonomous mobile robot (AMR) company, has announced the groundbreaking of its new global headquarters in Wilmington, Massachusetts. The 200,000-square foot facility will serve as a hub for Locus Robotics’ expansion into new markets for warehouse automation.

The headquarters, known as “Locus Park,” will house the company’s engineering, manufacturing, and operations divisions. It will also include a technology showcase, demonstration center, and client briefing center. This new facility will consolidate Locus Robotics’ current campus of five buildings into a single location, promoting better employee interaction and supporting in-person work as the pandemic subsides.

Additionally, the headquarters will feature a refurbishing center for Locus’ robots, an essential component of the company’s robots-as-a-service (RaaS) business model. By upgrading and repurposing older robots, Locus can keep costs down for clients and expand into more price-sensitive markets in the future.

Locus Robotics’ AMRs are known for their advanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. The robots use AI to navigate, communicate with each other, optimize travel routes, and maximize picking efficiency. This technology empowers businesses in industries such as 3PL, retail, healthcare, and manufacturing to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and remain competitive in the ever-changing e-commerce landscape.

With recent venture capital backing and significant customer orders, including a deal with DHL Supply Chain to deploy 5,000 Locus AMRs worldwide, Locus Robotics’ new global headquarters marks a milestone in the company’s growth and expansion plans.
