EUTELSAT 10B Satellite Enters Service to Meet Growing Demand for Mobile Connectivity

Eutelsat Communications has announced the successful entry into service of its Eutelsat 10B satellite at the 10°East orbital position. The satellite is equipped with two multi-beam High-Throughput Satellite (HTS) Ku-band payloads to address the rising demand for mobile connectivity. One payload covers the North Atlantic corridor, Europe, the Mediterranean basin, and the Middle East, offering significant throughput in high-traffic air and sea zones. The second payload extends coverage across the Atlantic Ocean, Africa, and the Indian Ocean.

The company has secured multi-year capacity commitments with leading maritime and in-flight connectivity service providers, such as Panasonic and Intelsat. EUTELSAT 10B will enable ships and airlines to offer mobile connectivity services to passengers and crews.

Additionally, the satellite will support Eutelsat ADVANCE services, providing high-end connectivity to users beyond the reach of terrestrial networks through an innovative satellite network-as-a-service experience.

EUTELSAT 10B also carries two widebeam payloads to ensure the continuity of video services on the EUTELSAT 10A satellite, which is scheduled to reach the end of its operational life later this year. The 10° East location, operated by Eutelsat since 1987, offers unparalleled coverage of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa for video services.

EUTELSAT 10B is an all-electric satellite with a powerful 5th generation digital transparent processor. It was launched on November 23, 2022, from Cape Canaveral, Florida. Built by Thales Alenia Space on the Spacebus NEO platform, EUTELSAT 10B brings cutting-edge technology and increased capacity to Eutelsat’s satellite fleet.

Eutelsat Communications is a leading satellite operator founded in 1977. It enables clients across various markets, including video, data, government, fixed, and mobile broadband, to communicate effectively with their customers worldwide. Eutelsat is committed to promoting sustainable development and bridging the digital divide while maintaining a safe space environment.
