Indian Government Focuses on Semiconductor Manufacturing and Research

In an effort to boost Semiconductor Manufacturing and research in the country, the Indian government has implemented a strategy to attract the establishment of semiconductor facilities. This includes efforts to make it easier for companies to set up manufacturing units in India. Additionally, plans are in motion to construct a dedicated semiconductor research center.

The government’s focus on semiconductor manufacturing is aimed at reducing India’s dependence on foreign imports for semiconductors, which are crucial components of various electronic devices. By promoting domestic manufacturing, the country aims to enhance self-sufficiency and strengthen the electronics industry.

To discuss these initiatives, WION’s senior correspondent Sidharth MP recently interviewed Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Indian Minister of State for IT and Electronics. In the interview, Chandrasekhar highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting semiconductor manufacturing and research in India.

As part of its strategy, the Indian government is actively working towards creating an enabling ecosystem for semiconductor production. This involves providing necessary infrastructure, financial incentives, and policy support to attract semiconductor companies to invest in India. The government also aims to develop a skilled workforce in this sector through various training and skill development programs.

By focusing on semiconductor manufacturing, India hopes to stimulate job creation, boost technological innovation, and strengthen its position in the global electronics market.
