Universal Orlando Drone Show in Development?

Recent reports suggest that a Universal Orlando drone show may be in the works, as fans have spotted drones of various shapes hovering over the resort after hours. Videos posted on Twitter show the drones forming the shapes of an owl, a clown, and a Christmas present.

This isn’t the first time Universal has tested drones overnight. In January 2023, drones were seen launching in the shape of a fish. Speculations are being made about how these shapes could be connected to Universal attractions and events, with possibilities including Harry Potter, Halloween Horror Nights, Seuss Landing, or the holiday season. However, Universal Orlando has not made any official announcements regarding a drone show.

Currently, Universal Orlando does not have a nighttime spectacular after the closure of the former Cinematic Celebration in May 2023. Other theme parks, such as Dollywood and Carowinds, have recently introduced drone shows. In Orlando, “Starbright Holidays,” which featured drones, performed during a single holiday season in 2016 at Disney Springs.

While drones are part of the “Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle” show at Universal Studios Hollywood, the Florida version of the show does not include drones. The only previous use of drones at Universal Orlando was during the opening ceremony for Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure in 2019.

Could the sightings of drones at Universal Orlando indicate the development of a new drone show? Only time will tell.
