Rating Definitions:
Emergency Standby Power (ESP):
This is the peak power available for a fluctuating load duration during a power grid failure. The Average Load Factor should not exceed 70% of the generator’s ESP rating for a 24-hour operation. Anticipated engine operation is 200 hours per year, with a maximum of 500 hours per year. This rating allows for a maximum of 25 hours per year at the ESP power rating. No overload is allowed and the engine should not be used for long-term utility paralleling applications.
Continuous Power (COP):
This is the maximum power available for continuous period use at a constant load factor. It does not allow any overload.
Prime Rated Power (PRP):
This refers to the maximum power available for unlimited hours of usage in a varying load application. The average load factor should not exceed 70% of the engine’s PRP power rating in any 24-hour period. An overloaded capability of 10% is allowed for 1 hour within every 12-hour period.
