The Beresheet lunar lander, built by Israeli nonprofit SpaceIL, hitched a ride on a Falcon 9 rocket and successfully entered lunar orbit before ultimately crash-landing on the Moon’s surface. Despite the lander’s unfortunate end, the mission was still hailed as a major milestone in private space exploration.

Perhaps the most ambitious project in SpaceX’s portfolio is the Starlink satellite constellation. With the goal of providing global internet coverage, SpaceX plans to deploy thousands of small satellites into low Earth orbit. The company has already launched hundreds of these satellites, with many more planned in the coming years. If successful, Starlink could revolutionize global communications and provide internet access to even the most remote corners of the Earth.

SpaceX’s successes have not gone unnoticed by the wider aerospace industry. Established players, such as United Launch Alliance and Arianespace, have been forced to reevaluate their strategies and invest in new technologies to compete with SpaceX’s cost-effective and innovative approach.
