Technology is not the problem.
We live in a world where all forms of instant gratification are available at our fingertips, from social media and online shopping to video games and streaming services. These constant temptations and distractions make it hard for our children to develop healthy life skills and habits. Our biology is built for a slow paced social environment that provides appropriate struggle, challenge, frustration and feedback. Without these appropriate hardships children fail to grow healthy boundaries, emotional intelligence and maturity. We have a choice. Their screen use is merely a symptom of society, our parenting, our modeling, and ultimately their own developmental trauma and self esteem. Lets use this opportunity to see where they are vulnerable and need more support and help.
