UFC Fighter Tony Ferguson Arrested for DUI After Multi-Vehicle Crash in Hollywood

Tony Ferguson, a longtime UFC fighter, was arrested on Sunday, May 8th, for allegedly driving under the influence in Hollywood. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Ferguson was driving a pickup truck when he crashed into four parked vehicles on Wilcox Avenue near Sunset Boulevard at around 1:50 a.m.

Ferguson was uncooperative with the police, according to TMZ, and was arrested at the scene for misdemeanor DUI after allegedly refusing to take a field sobriety test. Although there were passengers in Ferguson’s vehicle, none of them reported being injured.

The incident is currently under investigation, and LAPD has not yet responded to KTLA’s request for comment.

Ferguson, a former lightweight interim champion with a record of 25-8, has been a UFC fighter since 2011. He has lost his past five bouts, including a submission defeat to Nate Diaz in September 2022.

Footage of the aftermath of the crash began to circulate on YouTube via AXN News early Sunday. In the video, a seemingly unscathed Ferguson is seen near a pickup truck that had flipped over and crashed into multiple parked cars.

According to police sources cited by TMZ, the crash occurred around 2 a.m. PT. Ferguson reportedly refused to take part in a field sobriety test and is now facing a misdemeanor charge. A man was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition after the incident, KTLA5 reported.

Ferguson’s management team declined to comment on the incident when reached by MMA Junkie.

This is not the first time Ferguson has made headlines for his behavior outside the octagon. In 2019, his wife filed a restraining order against him, claiming he was in need of mental health help. She alleged he claimed he was being tracked through a chip inserted into his body during a surgery, among other things. She dropped the restraining order the following month.

In addition to the DUI charge, Ferguson could face other potential charges for refusing to take a field sobriety test. The crash resulted in the truck being flipped on its side, and according to TMZ, Ferguson was “very uncooperative” when he was taken into custody. Video provided by TMZ from the scene shows a tow truck operator flipping the truck back onto all four wheels after it had come to rest on top of two cars.

One of the cars belongs to a rapper named Cash Gotti, who came outside to find his Mercedes likely totaled.

Ferguson’s recent losing streak and legal troubles raise questions about his future in the UFC. Regardless of what happens, his fans hope he gets the help he needs and takes the necessary steps to address any underlying issues.
