CRUCIAL T700 PCIE GEN5 NVME SSD REACHING 12.4GB/S READ AND 11.9GB/S WRITE

The adoption of Pcie 5.0 technology was much slower than most enthusiasts expected. The storage company promises to double transfer rates compared to Gen4 storage, but it will be months if not years before we start seeing such SSDs available. Even 16 months since the launch of the first Gen5-enabled desktop platform, the availability of Gen5 storage is still very limited.

In the absence of PCIe Gen5 graphics cards (with the exception of China's MTT series), the only thing consumers are now looking for is storage. We cover some of the solutions released to the market in the last 2 months, which are signs that the Gen5 revolution is just starting.

It seems that soon other brands will join the fight for the highest transfer speed. Like other Gen5 SSDs, the Crucial T700 is based on the Phison E26 controller, and will ship with a heatsink. At least in this case the cooler is much smaller and there are no noisy fans attached (as with Inland SSDs). So if this storage reaches its advertised speed without active cooling, that's already a big win.

According to a tweet from LinusTechTips provided with a sneak-peek, the storage is up to 12422 MB/s sequential read speed and 11858 MB/s write speed by CrystalDiskMark software.

It's unclear which platform was used to test the storage, but these could be Intel 600, 700 or AMD 600 series motherboards. The latter offers full support without sacrificing the speed of the main PCIe Gen5 slot for the GPU, which is sadly the case with Intel.
