Phantom Galaxies Early Access: The Mecha Game We’ve Been Waiting For!

If you’re a fan of big robots fighting in space with big guns and laser swords, the gaming market is a bit restrictive. There are few games to enjoy, and if Armored Core VI came out recently, it’s clearly not for everyone. So, what’s left?
There may be one game that will finally offer the ultimate Gundam-style experience we’ve been impatiently expecting since Zone of the Enders. Today, we’ll tell you more about Phantom Galaxies and why we think this game has a lot of potential.
An Ambitious Start
Phantom Galaxies hasn’t officially released yet, but the trailer shows something very promising. The possibility to explore space, fight on planets and customize your mecha is already more than we’ve ever had in a long time. Moreover, the game looks stunning, and it runs on Unreal Engine 5. Still, the minimum specs look average and most pc players should be able to run it (depending on how well optimized it is).
A selected few have been able to play the game already, but it will only release on Steam on November 2, 2023. The main fear and issue we have with this game is its economic model.

Phantom Galaxies Gameplay Possibilities
The showcase allows us to discover a game that aims to please all the fans of giant robots. It looks gorgeous with plenty of particle effects and detailed models. The gameplay we were shown looks enjoyable, with the possibility to transform into a spaceship to travel fast and shoot. In space, it’s possible to switch to your mecha form and use a freaking laser sword. There are also levels on the ground which reminded us of games like Zone of the Enders. The game also has hubs where you walk around as a human character you can create, which also contributes to the feeling of being in a vast world.

It Could Be The Best Game Ever, But…
Phantom Galaxies could be one of the best massively multiplayer games of 2023 in our opinion, but there’s a serious issue. Even though the game will be playable for free, it won’t be like Warframe, where you can play and never pay a dime if you’re willing to grind, or you can just buy cosmetics.
This game is an NFT game, and neither the latest trailer nor the Steam clearly state it. We discovered it by browsing the developer’s official website. We still don’t know if it will be possible to play it without requiring cryptos and NFTs, but we hope not, because it would exclude a large audience, including us.
