The movie and gaming industry are deeply intertwined, and as games evolved, we enjoyed more and more recognizable faces over time. Of course, we’ve had cameos and voice-overs during the 90s and 2000s, but recently we’ve been seeing more, and more famous actors modelized in our games.

Some were forgettable, and there are too many awesome ones to count, so today we offer you a selection of the best Hollywood actor appearances in recent video games.

Top 8 Hollywood Actors in Video Games

1. Keanu Reeves – Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t only one of the biggest games to come out in recent years offering incredible gameplay, it also has an immersive narrative. To serve this narrative, CD Projekt Red managed to get Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand. However, where in other games such a big actor would have been a cameo, here Johnny is with for the entire duration of the game, since he’s literally in the player’s head.

2. Giancarlo Esposito – Far Cry 6

Giancarlo Esposito, who most people know as Gus Fring from Breaking Bad, is an incredibly talented actor, and with his recent fame the actor got on the gaming train. He portrayed the evil dictator you’re supposed to take down in Far Cry 6. However, he isn’t the first Better Call Saul actor to work with Ubisoft. Before him, Michael Mando, known for Nacho Varga in the Gilligan-written show, played the amazing Vaas Montenegro in the third Far Cry.

3. Willem Dafoe – Beyond Two Souls

Beyond Two Souls is a story-driven game by French developers Quantic Dreams, known for creating cinematic experiences. Over the years, their games had well-known celebrities, like David Bowie, or Clancy Brown.

However, one of the best actors they had was Willem Dafoe. His character doesn’t appear as much as Ellen Page’s character, but he’s important to the narrative, with a role comparable to Matthew Modine’s in Stranger Things. As always, Dafoe delivers a nuanced performance, even if it’s not his best work.

4. Norman Reedus – Death Stranding

Norman Reedus rose to fame as Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead, and he was supposed to star in a Silent Hill project with Hideo Kojima which never came to fruition due to the conflicts with the studio. However, when Kojima went on to create his own studio, his first game was Death Stranding. This game featured an all-star cast with Guillermo Del Toro, and Léa Seydoux joining Reedus in the main role.

The game offers a mysterious narrative, and it needed such talented people to deliver on so many hours of dialogue and cinematic. The sequel is set to release soon, and it will have these actors reprising their roles.

5. Kit Harrington – Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

Call of Duty had countless guests in their games, we could have talked about the Zombie mode. This mode had incredible guests like Robert Englund, Danny Trejo, Ving Rhames, or even David Hasselloff.

However, it’s in the solo campaign that we had the best guests, with Kit “Jon Snow” Harrington, or Kevin Spacey portraying evil bad guys taking over the world. There’s a charm in seeing such big actors play in what would be considered as movies so bad they’re good, if they weren’t games.

6. Michael K. Williams – Battlefield 4

Michael K. Williams unfortunately passed recently, but he will be remembered as Omar from The Wire. Still, this talented actor had a long and successful career, which eventually led him to star in Battlefield 4, one of the biggest games of the FPS franchise.  This fourth installment was graphically impressive, and Williams’ performance made the solo campaign even more immersive.

7. Jon Bernthal – Ghost Recon: Breakpoint

Following his iconic but short role in The Walking Dead, Jon Bernthal had a successful career, starring in Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street. However, we think it’s his role as The Punisher in the eponymous Netflix series, which prompted Ubisoft to make him the main bad guy in Ghost Recon: Breakpoint.  It’s too bad, he isn’t seen throughout the game due to the open world nature of the game. Still, his charisma shines in every appearance.

8. Josh Duhamel – Callisto Protocol

Josh Duhamel isn’t an A-lister, but he’s had a rebound in his career recently, mostly thanks to video games. He was our Captain in Call of Duty: World War II, in an iconic role which reminded us of the incredible Band of Brothers show. He then participated in the flawed, yet entertaining (in our opinion) Callisto Protocol.

The fact that he is the playable character also means he’s killed in gruesome ways by the enemies, and we imagine he’s had tons of fun during the
