Keanu Reeves Star Wars Appearance in The Acolyte Confirmed?!

Since Star Wars has been purchased by Disney, we’ve had a lot of bad content, and even surprise hits like The Mandalorian, were quickly turned into the same mush of mindless content forcing “the message” on us with lazy writing.

After the failure of the third season of The Mandalorian, and Andor, Kathleen Kennedy is pushing ahead with Star Wars: The Acolyte, which will have all the markings of another bad project with wasted potential. However, for this show, they apparently managed to get Keanu Reeves to play Darth Revan, but will this be enough to save a doomed project?

Who Is Keanu Reeves Playing In Acolyte?

Rumors are spreading throughout the internet that Keanu Reeves has a role in the next Star Wars show called The Acolyte. Apparently, Reeves shot a scene recently and it started a buzz on Star Wars fandom pages and YouTube channels, since he’s supposedly playing a beloved character. Keanu Reeves should play Darth Revan, a character appearing in Knights of The Old Republic games developed by Mass Effect’s Bioware.

Who is Darth Revan?

If you’ve only seen the movies, and never played any Star Wars game or read any comic books, you may not be familiar with the character of Darth Revan. However, you may have already seen him, since he has a really unique design, sparring a modified Mandalorian mask and two lightsabers in most visuals (one red and one purple). Darth Revan is one of the most powerful Sith lords to live during the High Republic. The High Republic is a period in the lore which takes place years before The Phantom Menace.

However, Revan is a controversial character, and George Lucas refused to have him appear in a Clone Wars episode due to Revan’s powers existing beyond death and outside the Force confliction with his vision of the universe. Revan has been a Sith Lord, the founder of the Sith Empire, and he was then turned into a Jedi to destroy his own creation.

Is Darth Revan Canon or Not?

With all the modifications made by Disney on the canon of Star Wars in recent years, it’s hard to know what’s part of it or not. However, they like to cherry-pick the best ideas from fan fiction and rewrite them, so it’s a win-win for them.

So, despite being part of the Legends universe, which Disney decided wasn’t canon a few years ago, for The Acolyte, they suddenly decided that he was canon. Still, based on previous projects, we can expect a highly modified version of the character, with fewer powers, and he’ll probably have comedic lines, even though he’s supposed to be the baddest Sith of them all.

Star Wars The Acolyte: What We Think About This Project

The Acolyte is a project that has been teased for a while now, and to us, it’s a waste of an enormous potential. Even though there hasn’t been a trailer for it yet, the fact that the cast features Ezra from Rebels, and the different declarations from Leslye Headland have us worried. Headland is Weinstein (Yes, Harvey), former employee, and when her former boss got exposed she magically became the wokest person on Earth.

Like Kathleen Kennedy, this is a person who got her place by using her social skills, and she’s not a talented writer or director. Moreover, she declared she knows nothing about Star Wars, and has no respect for the source material. Let’s add to that the announced cast of The Acolyte, which, apart from Reeves, is clearly pushing diversity for the sake of it. Kennedy and Headland also declared that this project is the most LGBTQ+ Star Wars project ever.

The problem is that when we look at Star Wars, we don’t see a divisive political agenda, we see a universe depicting good and evil in the eternal battle for morality and how even the most extreme people can come back to reason.
