Epic Seven 2023 Roadmap - Background Battle System, Mazes, UI Update and More

Tags: epic heroes hero

Smilegate is pretty candid with the public about where Epic Seven should be heading . The studio is releasing several developer letters to give players a taste of what to expect from this three-year-old RPG. Competing games such as Summoners War: Sky Arena , RAID: Shadow Legends and Dislyte , Epic Seven was under constant pressure to improve their game to provide players with a better gaming experience. Its one of the main strengths of the game is its graphic style, 3D animated graphics and 2D hero art. However, one of the main drawbacks of this game is its repetitive nature, which plagues casual gamers as they cannot keep up. Over time, these same players lose interest in the game and move on to other RPGs. Epic 7 2022 is coming to an end.

There's a lot to say, but we can't wait to get started! If you want a condensed version, here are some of the new changes and content highlights in our Roadmap 2022 Developer Notes .

Epic Seven acknowledged that the game was too repetitive and that the repetitive combat system needed an overhaul. A new background battle feature will be available soon, allowing players to perform other tasks while the battle continues in the background.

Episodes and their respective sub-stories will undergo a major overhaul to accommodate new and returning players. Likewise, Unsaved Stories will be fully updated in Q4 2022.

A host of events and rewards are on offer for new players and returning players as they venture into Ezera, the fictional world of Epic Seven . A comprehensive Beginner's Guide has also been developed with links to all systems and combat modes in the game to help new players explore the game.

Lots of new Epic 7 content in development! Moonlight Theater , a new 3-team arena game mode, and Meldrec's Labyrinth are just some new content announced in the developer notes.

A complete overhaul of the existing UI is planned and the developers have previewed the new UI. New quality of life features are also being considered, as the game is known for its gameplay solutions that allow for better content connectivity.

This is just the start of a new change. Read the rest of this article to learn more about the new changes in Epic Seven .

To make it easier for the player to understand the upcoming changes, we will divide them into two subtopics. We will cover updates for four different areas of the game:

Improved game

Expand support to new and returning players

Improved game

As already mentioned, Epic Seven 's gameplay is excellent, with beautiful graphics and lively animations adding to the combat experience. But imagine doing this for hours. This is an excessive grind that makes the gaming experience boring and repetitive in the long run.

Additionally, repeated battles essentially freeze the entire game until the battle ends or is abandoned. Therefore, after exploding, players will have to spend more time increasing the power of their Heroes exploring other events and completing other tasks like mazes.

All players who have unlocked the pet system will now have access to the new Background Battles feature . The background battle system allows players to continue recurring battles in the background without interfering with other game tasks or blocking access to other content. Battles cannot be repeated with different content if the player is fighting in the background.

Players can explore all other game areas such as: B. Crafting, Arena, Hero Tab, Hero Growth, Gear Upgrades, etc. Along with the new background battles , many other game-related improvements are planned.

Episode 1, the episode where a new player begins their journey, comes with many new improvements. Regional missions to earn 3 stars and Skystones will be reworked to better meet the needs of new players. Various requirements for using heroes and elemental classes have been removed in favor of a more general system.

Additionally, the price of Catalysts and Equipment in the AP Shop (Adventurer Points) has been reduced, allowing new players to level up faster and keep up with existing players.

Sub-stories and episodes will now be tightly linked together to thunder players a deeper experience of the game and understanding of the world of Orbis. Side stories unlock at a more personal pace based on the player's progress through the main story.

After unlocking a side story, players can also earn special alliances to summon banners featuring the side story's main hero at higher rates.

A number of its UI improvements, described later in this article, have been implemented, further connecting players from the episode's main stage to their respective regional and secondary hero stages. There will also be new changes to the AP Shop system, which recently underwent a UI overhaul.

A complete overhaul of the Unrecorded History sub-story is underway. The unsaved story level is just a copy-paste of the same level from Episode 1, so I won't repeat it, but it's a bit harder. It unlocks the Moonlight Boon and offers epic Catalysts and Skystones, making it essential in a new player's journey. A new unsaved story resets progress for all players, including players who have completed it.

Support the growth of new and returning players

Smilegate knows that Epic Seven is no longer a new game as the game will soon be celebrating its 4th anniversary. With constant updates and new content released over the years, the path has come a long way. But with new updates focusing on the existing player base, the goal of attracting new players and focusing on their retention has been lost.

This phenomenon is only accelerating as the meta changes and new heroes appear almost every two weeks. Smilegate said they made some changes to Epic Seven to provide more resources.

The Grace of Growth

The Grace of Growth is none other than the Grace of Unity introduced in the big “Awakening” update. All players who pass level 10 in episode 1 chapter 10 will unlock this structure. Growing Bounty is accessible from the lower right corner of the main interface until major UI changes are made. In this area, players can place their favorite heroes without levels, revivals or dexterity.

After placement, heroes are instantly upgraded to their maximum capacity based on unlocked levels in Grace of Growth. It consists of 4 different levels and each level has its own unlock conditions. Once you acquire a hero, you cannot deploy new heroes for 3 days.

level 1 (Level 50, 5 Stars) - Complete Episode 1, Stages 10-10 - Unlocks the Bounty of Growth system.

Level 2 (Level 50 5 stars, Awakening +5) - Requires at least 3 level 50 heroes.

Level 3 (Level 50, Stars 5, Awakening +6, Dexterity +6) - Level 60 Heroes Need 3 or more. Level 4 (level 50, 5 stars, awakening +6, ability +12) - You should start with a level 5 hero with fully upgraded abilities.

“Call to Adventure” Internet Event – The new Internet Event, called Call to Adventure, will include crucial sub-events that will be useful for new players and long-time players to grant them several benefits and gifts.

The Call to Adventure, which will already be visible in the September update, introduces a new type of mechanic where players can complete certain missions and earn hefty rewards in return. Rewards and missions will only be available on an ad hoc basis. Here are the missions and rewards associated with the event:

  • Complete Episode 1, Level 1-10 – Superior Equipment Charm x 2
  • Upgrade gear to +6 1 time – Silver Transmit Stone x 4
  • Complete Episode 1, Levels 2-10 - Stigma x 700
  • Complete the Arena fight 5 times – Conquest Points x 100
  • Complete Episode 1, levels 5-10 - Giga Phantasma x 1
  • Promote a hero to 4 stars 1 time – Gold x 100,000
  • Complete Episode 1, levels 7-10 - Superior Gear Charm x 3
  • Upgrade gear to +9 2 times – Stigma x 1200
  • Spend 1000 Stigmas - Superior Accessory Charm x 3
  • Complete Episode 1, Level 10-10 - Artifact Ticket x 1 (4-5 Stars)
  • Complete all missions – +9 Alliance Summons for 7 days.

Beginner's Guide – After completing Episode 1 of the game's main story, it has been observed that many players still don't know what to do next. The new Beginner's Guide will act as a web event extension to give players a clear idea of what to do and which missions to progress to.

These missions will serve as a guideline for players while rewarding them with enough hero currency and growth materials to encourage players. The previously introduced “Expert Hunt” challenge and “MolaGora” challenge were just the start of such events.

Hero Growth Check Event - For new players who have not reached higher content levels yet and have limited resources, the developer creates the first 6-star hero, then the second 6-star hero. I discovered that it takes a long time to create one.

To address this issue in the future and provide players with more resources to build a full squad of at least four 6-star heroes, Smilegate encourages players to help develop and promote your heroes.

We are introducing a new "Hero Support Check" event where you can: From top 3 heroes to 6 stars. Some of the rewards offered are: 30% XP Booster (1 day), Giga Phantasma x 6, Rare Developer Select Box x 15, Epic Developer Select Box x 10, Moragora x 3.

New Content

Delivering new content has always been a focus for Smilegate over the past few years, but it has left some holes in the overall experience for new and returning players. New players are unable to clear new content introduced in the game due to power drift. To counter this, Smileagte is finally trying to work on repetitive content that doesn't give players a deadline where they have to complete certain objectives within a specific time.

Here's a detailed look at the new content being developed:

Moonlight Theater – Moonlight Theater will be a new side story type where stories from other worlds will be told and explored. All players who have completed Episode 2, Chapter 10, Stage 10 will be able to unlock this new content. Additionally, Smilegate announced that the Moonlight Theater's first story will be titled "Neither God Nor Devil Exist" and it will feature the storyline of Cidonia in another world.

The first episode of this new side story "Neither God Nor the Devil Exists" will be available for free, while subsequent episodes will be released weekly. Theater tickets are acquired as rewards for watching episodes, and players will be rewarded with 50 Mystic Medals for the first time they watch an episode.

Three-Team Arena Battles – Three-Team Arena Battles were first introduced in the major Awaken update over three months ago and were scheduled to release sometime in Q4 2022. It seems that the delay in the development of the game is attributed to some problems with balance and strategic implementation of the game mode.

Players will fight against 3 different teams consisting of 3 different heroes in this game mode. A new character NPC based on the new game mode is also under development and can be battled daily to earn additional gems. The option to replay World Arena for this game mode is also under development but will not be introduced at launch.

The Labyrinth revamp is coming in the fourth quarter of 2022, and players will have to deal with three different changes.

Redesign of the existing maze – Smilegate noticed that the current player base has already progressed enough to complete the normal difficulty maze stages. Therefore, some changes to incorporate more rewards and rearrange the maze maps to make them easier to complete are in development. After that, players will be able to progress to the next stage of the maze at a much faster pace.

More juicy rewards will be added to entice players through the new maze.

Azmakalis Turned into a Challenge – Right now there's not much incentive to play Azmakalis on normal difficulty as gear obtained in the dungeon is outdated and gear obtained from events, hunts, and stages of history far exceeds it. It is planned to turn Azmakalis into an ordinary labyrinth dungeon where players will fight the boss on different difficulties.

Once dropped, the same heroes can no longer be used while the boss will drop more higher quality items.

Labyrinth Meldric – A new labyrinth titled Meldric will soon be available in the live version of the game. It will be located in Cidonia where the adventure will take place to rescue the Fire Lord Malicus.

Quality of Life Update / Interface Improvements

The quality of life update for Epic Seven has been in discussion for some time now. Good news, the developers themselves have now officially mentioned the new quality of life update along with a complete UI overhaul for game improvement. heroes will be updated in two different parts.

The first part of the hero UI will now be a standard screen that will give basic stats and battle information. The second part of the hero interface will now be a detail screen where players can check the hero's history as well as their relationships with other heroes. Players will also be able to favorite their most used heroes by tapping on the “Love” icon.

Favorite heroes will appear at the top of the list before all other heroes. Additionally, the UI will support a multi-hero display system which will allow players to display multiple heroes on their screen instead of scrolling through them one by one.

These changes are scheduled for September 2022.

In addition, here are some suggested changes:

The equipment UI will be improved to give players all the options in one place. For example, if they select an item of equipment, they will be able to remove it, transfer it to another hero if it is not locked, put it in reserve or reforge it in the Steel Forge.

New types of halls are also being developed, where players will be able to see and greet their heroes. Currently, this feature only exists in the pub area. Players will also be able to set hero artwork as background and encounter them in different locations in Epic Seven.
Ezeran Foundation Day Event

As Epic Seven celebrates its 4th anniversary, this day marks the 4th day of the Ezeran Foundation. To celebrate the event, players can log in every day to get spicy rewards, just by logging in and going to the events page.

Entitled “Ezeran Foundation Day”, the event has already begun! It is scheduled to run from September 7, 2022 to October 7, 2022. Players only need to log in for 15 days to get all the rewards, including a 5-Star Alliance Hero Pick Ticket the last day.

Don't worry because the connections should not be consecutive but global, during the event period. Here are the rewards that can be claimed each day:

  • Day 1 – 4th Anniversary Artifact x 1 (Required Player Rank – 1)
  • Day 2 – Mystical Medal x 50 (Required Player Rank – 4)
  • Day 3 – Leif x 44 (Required Player Rank – 8)
  • Day 4 – Mystical Medal x 50 (Required Player Rank – 12)
  • Day 5 – Catalyst Bundle Chest x 1 (Required Player Rank – 16)
  • Day 6 – Mystic Medal x 50 (Required Player Rank – 20)

  • Day 8 – Mystical Medal x 50 (Required Player Rank – 24)
  • Day 9 – Epic Accessory Charm x 4 (Required Player Rank – 24)
  • Day 10 – Mystical Medal x 100 (Required Player Rank – 24)
  • Day 11 – MolaGora x 4 (Required Player Rank – 24)
  • Day 12 – Mystical Medal x 100 (Required Player Rank – 24)
  • Day 13 – Gold Transmission Stone x 10 (Required Player Rank – 24)
  • Day 14 – Mystic Medal x 100 (Required Player Rank – 24)
  • Day 15 – Alliance Hero Selection Ticket (5 stars) x 1 (Required Player Rank – 24)
