Centurion+ Patent Holders as of May 21, 2024

Welcome to the 21st of May 2024: Our goal is to celebrate the patent holders who have reached noteworthy milestones in their fields this week.

Ruilong Xie

Research Engineer at IBM.

Patent №: 11990508 (May 21, 2024) – Dual step etch-back inner spacer formation.

Semiconductor device formation includes these steps: etch sacrificial layers to create curved recesses with tails at the top and bottom, partially fill the recesses with dielectric plugs, etch back the tails to expand the recesses, and form inner spacers in the expanded recesses.

Patent №: 11990412 (May 21, 2024) – Buried power rails located in a base layer including first, second, and third etch stop layers. Methods for forming integrated chips include: forming a stack of layers with a device stack above a first sacrificial layer on a substrate, replacing the sacrificial layer with an etch stop layer, removing the substrate to expose the stack, etching the exposed stack to create a trench, and forming a conductive line in the trench.

Tahir Ghani

Intel Senior Fellow at Intel Corporation.

Patent №: 11991873 (May 21, 2024) – Capacitor separations in dielectric layers.

Embodiments describe a semiconductor device with a substrate, a first ILD layer, and a second ILD layer above it. Capacitors are formed within these layers, with their top plates at the boundary between them. The capacitors are separated by a dielectric area, with one part coplanar to the top plates and another part above, separating the plates.

Patent №: 11990472 (May 21, 2024) – Fabrication of gate-all-around integrated circuit structures having pre-spacer deposition cut gates. Gate-all-around integrated circuit structures with pre-spacer-deposition cut gates are described. The structure includes first and second vertical nanowire arrangements, each with a gate stack, separated by a gap. A dielectric structure forms spacers along the gate stack sidewalls and fills the gap continuously.

James R Giordano

Principal Test EngineerPrincipal Test EngineerEthicon, Inc. / retired.

– 26+ years experience in the design & developement of single patient use medical devices.
– Partner in developing a $1B ultrasonic medical business through concept to production of multiple capital equipment platforms(generators), multiple limited reuse transducers, and numerous single patient use accessories.
– Experience with the design & development of advanced bipolar RF equipment and disposables.
– Former member of ANSI/AAMI HF-18 technical committee dedicated to the safety of RF medical devices.

Patent №: 11986183 (May 21, 2024) – Surgical cutting and fastening instrument comprising a plurality of sensors to measure an electrical parameter. A surgical stapling assembly includes a shaft, an end effector with movable jaws, an electric motor, sensors in the end effector, and a control circuit. The motor actuates a firing driver to deploy staples and cut tissue. The control circuit actuates the motor during a firing stroke, monitoring electrical parameters at different locations of the stroke.

Leah Shalev

Senior Principal Engineer at Annapurna Labs, Amazon Web Services.

Software/hardware integration architect specializing in the area of high-speed networking and protocol offload. Creator of SRD transport protocol.

Patent №: 11989154 (May 21, 2024) – Hybrid remote direct memory access.

A technique for remote direct memory access (RDMA) includes receiving a network packet with metadata for queue selection, selecting a queue based on the metadata, and writing the packet’s data to application memory via the selected queue’s datapath. Amended metadata is then generated to indicate the data has been written and stored in a software-accessible buffer.

George A Neuman

Founder, Iridescence Thin Film Consulting.

Patent №: 11990487 (May 21, 2024) – Device with a multizone reflector having a discreet opening for a sensor.

A reflective member with transflective and opaque regions is disclosed. The transflective region serves as a sensor opening. From a first direction, the total light reflectance difference between the opaque and sensor regions is less than five percent, and the color reflectance difference is less than 5 delta C* units. A sensor on the opposite side (second direction) of the member receives light through the sensor opening.

Niclas Wiberg

Mr. Wiberg received the M.Sc. degree in computer engineering and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Linköping University, Linköping, Sweden, in 1990 and 1996, respectively.

He is currently an expert at Ericsson Research, Linköping. His research interests include radio protocols and radio resource management in cellular systems and radio network modeling and simulations.

Patent №: 11991033 (May 21, 2024) – Systems and methods for phase noise tracking reference signal sequence generation using demodulation reference signals.

User equipment (UE) in a cellular network includes a transceiver, processor, and memory. It maps a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) to a phase noise tracking reference signal (PNT-RS) for data transmission. A DMRS signal is generated for a resource element in a subcarrier, copied to another element for the PNT-RS, and used for the data transmission.

Lars Lindbom

Systems Manager at Ericsson.

Patent №: 11990969 (May 21, 2024) – Methods for adapting density of demodulation reference signals. A wireless node selects a set of reference signal antenna ports for data transmission within a given time interval from available sets with varying signal densities. It then sends a message to a second wireless node indicating the reference signal assignment and the selected antenna ports.
