RAFAMET’s history spans over 175 years, with its roots tracing back to 1846 when the first steel plant called „Nadzieja“ (meaning „Hope“) was erected next to the railway station in Kuźnia Raciborska, Poland. This was after the start-up of the Berlin – Vienna railway line, which ran through Kuźnia Raciborska. In the second half of the nineteenth century, a rolling mill and a cast iron foundry were added to the factory.
