Huawei Mate 60 Pro Arrives In China With Kirin 9000s Chipset; Top Variant Offers A Whopping 1TB Storage: Contrary to what many sources were reporting, the China-based tech giant Huawei has decided to kick off the announcement of its latest phablets with the unveiling of the Huawei Mate 60 Pro in China.

The Huawei Mate 60 Pro, which so far is the first from the Mate 60 series to launch, is expected to be joined by other members of the lineup in September this year (could be September 12th or 13th).

Like the Pro models from the previous generations of the Mate series, the new Mate 60 Pro comes with a lot of exciting features and specifications, Here are some of them:

Design and Dimensions

On the rear, the Mate 60 Pro features a big circular camera module with XMAGE branding at the centre and three cameras and a flash positioned opposite to each other.

Moving on the the front, the panel come with three punch-hole cutouts for cameras and other sensors. However, according to the company, these 3 cutouts in the screen can be turned into a single pill-styled cutout like iPhone 14 Pro‘s by just enabling it in the phone’s setting.

The Huawei Mate 60 Pro has a dimension of 163.7 x 79 x 8.1 mm (6.44 x 3.11 x 0.32 in) and weighs about 225 grams.

Display

The Mate 60 Pro brings a 6.82-inch OLED display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate making it possible for its refresh rate to go as low as 1Hz and higher as 120Hz depending on the content consumed.

Its panel has a resolution of FHD+ (2720 x 1260 pixels) and supports 1 billion colours.

With 1440Hz PWM dimming confirmed, that means that the Huawei Mate 60 Pro joins the family of phones with fewer flickers.

Performance

Speaking of performance, the new Huawei phablet makes use of a Kirin 9000s processor coupled with 12GB of LPDDR5 memory and up to 1TB of UFS 3.1 storage.

The Kirin 9000s has an octa-core CPU that includes one Cortex-A720 core clocked at 2.62 GHz, three Cortex-A720 cores operating at up to 2.15 GHz and four cores based on Cortex-A510 architecture operating at up to 1.53GHz. For graphics, the chipset comes equipped with Maleoon 910 GPU.

This is the third chipset from the Kirin 9000 family as the company already announced Kirin 9000 and 9000E in 2020 and have so far been featured in many flagship devices from both Mate and P lines, including normal phones ( Huawei Mate 40 Pro, Huawei P50 Pro, Huawei Mate 40 Pro+, Huawei Mate 40 RS Porsche Design and Huawei Mate 40 just to name a few) as well as foldable (Huawei Mate X2).

The Mate 60 Pro boots HarmonyOS 4.0 (China) out of the box.

Camera Details

Three cameras on the rear include a wide camera, an ultrawide camera and a telephoto camera. The primary snapper is a 50MP sensor ( f/1.4-f/4.0, 24mm (wide), PDAF, Laser AF, OIS).

The 50MP is joined by a 12MP ultrawide camera( f/2.2,13mm, 120˚) and a 48MP telephoto camera (f/3.5, 90mm ) on the rear.

Like the main camera, the periscope telephoto camera also supports optical image stabilization.

Speaking of zoom capabilities, the Mate 60 Pro’s 48MP telephoto lens supports 3.5x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom.

Battery Details

The Mate 60 Pro comes with a massive 5000mAh battery. And like most top-end Android devices from the likes of Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, and OnePlus, this phablet comes with support for a wide range of fast charging technologies.

Starting with wired charging, the Mate 60 Pro carries support for 88W fast charging which is claimed to be able to power up the device from 0 to 100% charge in mere 30 minutes.

Moving on to wireless charging, the handset is claimed to support up to 50 watts of wireless charging and 20 watts of reverse wireless charging.

Colour Options

There are about four colour options available for the new Huawei Mate 60 Pro, which are Black, White, Green, and Purple.

More Features

Expansion of storage capacity is still possible. You can add up to an extra 256GB of external storage via an NM memory card.

Unlocking of the Huawei Mate 60 Pro has also been simplified, the device can either be unlocked using a depth sensor or optical fingerprint scanner.

Also, this machine comes equipped with the latest version of satellite connectivity which makes it possible for the user to make and receive satellite calls as well as edit satellite messages.

Moreover, the Huawei Mate 60 Pro has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance and for connectivity, this handset supports WiFi 6, NFC and 4G connectivity

Huawei Mate 60 Pro Pricing And Availability

Three storage options for the Huawei Mate 60 Pro have been announced, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB, all with the same RAM capacity of 12GB.

But the company has so far revealed the pricing of only one model, 12+256GB. According to the company’s website, the base model of the Huawei Mate 60 Pro retails for 6,999 Yuan (~Rs 79,400/$960).

The P50 Pocket maker did not waste any time with its latest phablet as its initial public sale began just after the official announcement.
